Traditional (20th century) learning models tend to disappoint 21st-century learners. These models undermine long-term learner success by adding more content, often more advanced content, on top of an uncertain foundation (Khan, 2012). We identify innovative learning strategies, technologies, and games, which excite 21st-century learners.

How do 21st-century learners prepare themselves for “jobs and technologies” which, according to Crutcher, “don”t yet exist…in order to solve problems that we don”t even know are problems yet”? We survey college students to identify the learning strategies they use, the educational technologies they access, and the social networks they leverage to learn.
